WordPoints version 1.7.0 is currently under development, and when complete, it will introduce a new component: Ranks. It was originally scheduled for release on October 1st. This week I decided to push the release date back to November 1st. I hate to do this because, like the WordPress developers, I think of release dates as a promise. However, I believe it is necessary for the good of the plugin. That isn’t to say that it would have been utterly impossible to release by the first of October, but I know that the release quality would have suffered. And if release dates are a promise, release quality is a non-negotiable contract sealed with blood.

So here’s to 1.7.0, which will be the biggest release since 1.0.0. And thanks to the new release date, we won’t have to pick it before it comes to the peek of ripeness. And if that should happen before November 1st, it’s possible 1.7.0 will be released sooner. The release date is really more of a release by date, at least for now.  (I’m thinking of setting up a better system for release dates for 1.8.0+.)
